Application for Junior Research Fellow in Physics

Applications are invited from eligible candidates to work as Junior Research Fellow ( 1 post) in the Project entitled “ Quantum properties and energy level statistics of interacting trapped bosons and Bose Einstein condensate” funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of West Bengal , (Memo No. 1211(Sanc.)/ST/P/S&T/4G-1/2012 dated 04/03/2016) under the supervision of Dr. Barnali Chakrabarti, Department of Physics, Presidency University. The project is to be implemented soon and the tenure of the Project is three years.

Candidate should have uniformly good academic career with M.Sc. in Physics from a recognized University with at least 55% marks in both B.Sc. and M.Sc. Examinations with NET or GATE qualification preferably. However any candidate having the knowledge about BEC will be preferred. Upper age limit is 28 years, relaxable upto 5 years in case of SC/ST candidates.

The selected candidate must be very innovative, hard working and sincere. The selected candidate may have to spend 6 months of each year in ICTP and SISSA, Italy for three consecutive years. The fellowship amount is Rs. 16400/- for the first two years and Rs. 18700/- for the third year for the JRF NET qualification. The fellowship will co-terminate with the project. However for the stay in Italy the fellowship will be provided by ICTP.

Two separate sets of complete applications furnishing biodata on plain paper with attested copies of testimonials should reach the office of Physics, Presidency University by 01 August 2016. Applicants should mention the title of the project on top of the application.

A walk-in interview will be held on the 05 August, 2016 (Friday) at 11 AM at the Department of Physics, Presidency University, 86/1 College Street, Kolkata-700073.

Note: No TA / DA shall be paid for attending the interview.
