Departmental Events (optional)

Seminars/Workshops organized by the Department in 2012-2013:
1.The Centre for Economic Studies, Department of Economics, organised the fifth Professor Dipak Banerjee Memorial Annual Lecture. Nobel Laureate Professor Joseph Stiglitz was invited for this purpose. He delivered a lecture on the 12th of January, 2012 at Derozio Hall before a packed audience who were highly appreciative.

2.Workshop on “Time Series Econometrics” was organised between 3rd to 5th September, 11th , 14th, 18th, and 21st September, 2012. It was addressed by Prof. Diganta Mukherjee and Prof. Nityananda Sarkar.

3.Seminar on “Economic Theory and Policy: Multiple Facets” was organised between 26th and 28th September, 2012. The following Speakers addressed the Seminar: Professor Mihir Kanti Rakshit, Professor Soumyen Sikdar, Professor Amitava Bose, Professor Anup Kumar Sinha, Professor Arijit Sen.

4.Workshop on “Cluster Analysis” was organized between 11th and 12th October, 2012. It was addressed by Professor Diganta Mukherjee.

5.Two day workshop on “Financial Economics” was organized between 5th and 6th November, 2012. It was addressed by Prof. Amitava Sarkar, Mr. Siddhartha Chatterjee, Prof. Basabi Bhattacharyya and Dr. Rajlakshmi Mallick.

6.Workshop on “Applied Econometrics with STATA” was organized on 29th November, 2012, morning. It was addressed by Zakir Husain.

7.One Day Seminar on “Young Investors awareness programme” was organized on 29th November, 2012, afternoon. It was addressed by Sripriya Senthikumar and Chandrakanta Mitra.

8.Lecture on “Equilibrium and Welfare in the Arrow-Debreu Model: A Formal Exposition” by H. T. Warshoe and Robert Irving Warshow Professor of Economics, Mukul Majumdar of Cornell University on 8th January, 2013.
