Advertisement for a ‘Project Assistant’ Position in an ANRF Funded Research Project at the Department of Life Sciences, Presidency University   Date: 14/08/2025

Applications are invited from highly motivated candidates for the position of Project Assistant in ANRF funded research project entitled  “Unravelling the role of Irgm1 as a regulatory factor in microglial inflammatory response: Implications for Neuroinflammation in Sepsis Associated Encephalopathy, Ageing, and Neurodegenerative diseases” at the laboratory of Dr. Kaushiki Biswas, Department of Life Sciences, Presidency University, Kolkata. 

Application process: Interested and eligible candidates should email a single pdf file containing:

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Essential Qualification:  M.Sc. (not older than 2023) preferably in Neurobiology or in any discipline of Life Sciences (Microbiology/Molecular Biology/Genetics/Biotechnology/Zoology/Physiology etc.) from a recognized University with at least 60% marks. 

2. Desirable Qualification and skills:  

i) Candidates who have qualified CSIR-UGC NET (LS) would be highly desirable for the position. 

ii) Prior hands on experience in laboratory molecular biology techniques like RNA isolation and RT-PCR, western blot, and bioinformatics tools like molecular docking. 

iii) Proficient in MS office and laboratory documentation. 

iii) Good oral and written communication skill in English.

iv) Problem solving ability and ability to work effectively in a team.

Duration of project: Three years or duration of the project (subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funds)

Amount of Fellowship:

Rs. 27000/- (Salary) + Rs. 8100 (HRA) = Rs. 35100/- per month (consolidated)

Ph.D. Enrolment: The selected candidate may be allowed to enrol for the Ph.D. program as per university rules and subject to satisfactory performance.

Terms and conditions:

1. All the terms & conditions for this recruitment will be as per the guidelines of the ANRF and Presidency University Kolkata.

2. The above position is purely contractual and is for the duration of the project only. Selected candidates will not be entitled to claim any regular appointments/absorption in this institute.

3. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.

4. Candidates will not be entertained after said interview slot, except in case of any exigency the decision of the selection committee will be final and binding on the candidates.
