Advertisement inviting applications for the position of JRF in WBDSTBT funded Project at the Department of Geology.   Date: 19/06/2024

Applications are invited for the position of One Junior Research Fellow in a Government of West Bengal– Department of Science & Technology and Biotechnology sponsored research project under the guidance of Dr. Anirban Chatterjee , Department of Geology, Presidency University, Kolkata.

Project Title: A critical evaluation of human adaptation with the changing river course: inference to the geological evolution of Damodar River, through a multiproxy approach

Principal Investigator:Dr. Anirban Chatterjee

Fellowship (to be governed as per WBDSTBT norms): Rs 25,000 (Consolidated) per month (1 ^st & 2 ^nd year) and Rs 30,000 (Consolidated) per month (3rd year).

Tenure:The position is available for three years/ termination of the project, whichever is earlier. The appointment will be subjected to an annual review for further extension that will be granted based on the research progress and accomplishments. The post is purely temporary and subject to the availability of annual funds.

Terms and conditions: The above position is purely contractual and is for the duration of the project only. Selected candidates will not be entitled to claim any regular appointments/absorption in this institute. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.

Essential qualification:M.Sc. Degree in Geology/ Applied Geology/ Geography from a recognized university.

Desirable qualification: Applicants having a valid rank in CSIR/UGC­-NET JRF/LS Examination and/or at least 1-year research experience in the geochemistry/ remote sensing/ geophysics related research work will be given preference.
