About-
I am a hard-worker honest man and my passion is teaching. I want to be a competent and intelligent scientist that adapted very well with the new field of Biology and interact very well with fellow students and postdocts.
Qualifications+
B.Sc. (Hons. In Zoology) [Uluberia College, University of Calcutta] 2001
M.Sc. Zoology (Special paper – Entomology { Receipient of D.N.Roychowdhury Memmorial Medal-2003}) [University of Calcutta] 2003
Ph.D. Reproductive Physiology and Molecular Endocrinology (University of Kalyani, India) 2010
Post Doctoral Research. (BOYSCAST Fellow, DST, Govt. of India) and Visiting Professor in Aquaculture, Department de Fisiologia, Universitat de Barcelona: Barcelona, Catalunya, Spain [2011-11-05 to 2012-11-04] (Sub. Reproduction Technology).
Biography+
After M.Sc. from University of Calcutta I joined to the Department of Zoology, University of Kalyani as CSIR-UGC JRF and completed my doctoral degree on “Annual profile of plasma steroid hormones and their biosynthesis in the ovary of Tenualosa ilisha (Hamilton, 1822), with a note on identification of maturation inducing steroid”. In the year 2006, I joined to Asutosh College as an Assistant Professor in Zoology. From September 2011 to 2012 I Worked as a BOYSCAST Fellow 2010-2011 (Sub. Reproduction Technology), DST, Govt. of India in the Department de Fisiologia, Universitat de Barcelona, 643, Av. Diagonal, 08028 Barcelona, Spain under the guidance of Prof. J.V. Planas. During this time I also worked as Guest Lecturer in the Master Program of Aquaculture, Universitat de Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain. After returning India, I joined to Asutosh College again and lastly move to Presidency University as an Assistant Professor and became Professor in February, 2019.
Research / Administrative Experience+
During doctoral and post-doctoral research, I actively participated in various project in my laboratory dealing with seasonal plasma and gonadal steroid profile of teleost fish, the role of immune factors in the control of oocyte maturation and ovulation in teleost fish. Specifically, I pioneered the study of the role of interleukin-6 as an intraovarian cytokine mediating
the effects of luteinizing hormone during oocyte maturation and ovulation in trout. In addition, my work has also involved to investigating the regulation of the expression of factors involved
in proteolysis of the follicle wall in the trout ovary during the periovulatory period. Throughout this
period I has learned applied molecular biological techniques to study gene expression (e.g. real time quantitative PCR, microarray analyses), has performed in vitro experiments with teleost ovarian follicles involving separation of follicle cell layers, follicle contraction and proteolysis assays, has measured the levels of prostaglandins and steroids in fish ovarian follicle
incubates and has performed western blotting for the analysis of protein expression levels.
