Professor

I love Literature and Philosophy. I have special interest in Shri Aurobindo’s Philosophy and Gandhian Studies. My area of research is Indian Romanticism, Partition Literature, North-Eastern Literature, Comparative Literature and Gandhian Studies. My PhD research was on universality of romanticism in Hindi poems. I further developed my interest in study of revolutionary romanticism in Derozio (English),    Nirala (Hindi), Najrul (Bengali) and Subramanian Bharati (Tamil). My post doctoral research is based on identity crises and formation of new cultural identity in partition literature, which includes  Hindi, Bengali and Bangladeshi novels. I did research on Assamese poet Nilim Kumar, Kokborak (Tripura) poet Chandrakant Murasingh, Contemporary Manipuri Poetry and Contemporary Assamese Women writings. I also did research on impact of movements and thoughts of Mahatma Gandhi on Hindi Literature, Bengali Literature and Indian Literature. At present my focus is on study of myth of new born country in novels on partition of India of Vishma Sahani (Hindi), Atin Bandyopadhya (Bengali) and Salina Hussain(Bangladeshi).
