
Hadida Yasmin
Associate Professor
About-
Interested in the innate immunology of fetal-maternal interaction, Hadida Yasmin has also worked on plant immunomodulators to treat inflammatory diseases. Her current interests lie in two complement regulatory proteins, Factor H and Properdin in normal pregnancy and adverse pregnancies such as preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, recurrent pregnancy loss and preterm birth.
To enhance her laboratory skills in the field of reproductive immunology she has also worked as a visiting scientist for two months in 2022 at the Department of Life Sciences, University of Trieste, Italy. She has been the recipient of several awards such as Young scientist Award (2003), Travel award to Seattle University (2014), Fulbright-Nehru International Education Administrator Award (2016-17) from United States-India Educational Foundation, INSA Visiting scientist award (2019-20), Teacher Associateship Research Award by DST-SERB, Govt. of India (2022-25) and Sikha Ratna Award from Govt. of West Bengal in 2023.

Biography+
Dr. Hadida Yasmin has completed her Masters and PhD in Zoology with specialization in Cell Biology and Immunology from University of North Bengal, India. She began her teaching career as a lecturer in the Dept. of Microbiology, Siliguri College in 2004 and then in 2005, she joined Dept. of Zoology, University of North Bengal as a senior research fellow funded by ICMR and continued until 2008. For two years (2008-2010) she worked in a FERN, UK funded project on Climate Change as a research associate with NESPON, West Bengal. In 2010, joined as an Assistant Professor in Zoology at North Bengal St. Xavier’s college, Rajganj, where she taught undergraduate courses in Zoology and Microbiology. She was also the Vice Principal of NB. St. Xavier’s College. In 2016, she was appointed as an Assistant Professor in Zoology and then subsequently in 2019 as Associate Professor in the same department of Cooch Behar Panchanan Barma University (CBPBU) till 2026. Dr. Yasmin also served as Controller of Examinations (Acting) on additional charge for six months to initiate the CBCS course curriculum at the CBPBU. She has also acted as visiting faculty for teaching course modules in Immunology at Guwahati University and Raiganj University.

Senior Research Fellowship: 2005-2008, NBU (Funded by ICMR, New Delhi)
Thesis title- Analysis of the Effects of Curcuma longa Linn on Lymphocytes and Malignant cells in Murine Model for Immunotherapy.
Her PhD work is to investigate the effect of ethanolic extract of turmeric (ETE) on both murine lymphocytes and malignant cells (Ascitic Fibrosarcoma and Ehlrich Ascitic Carcinoma) for potential therapeutic approaches against malignancy compared to commercially available curcumin.
Post Doc: Research Associate: 2008-2010, NESPON, West Bengal (funded by FERN, UK)
Her postdoctoral work was to critically analyse the "Clean Development Project" submitted across the globe to UNFCCC for earning Certified Emission Reduction"
