Assistant Professor
About-
I am doing my research in Micropalaeontology, special focus on Foraminifera. My research interest includes Foraminiferal response in stressful environment, Morphometrics of Foraminifera and Paleomonsoon.
Qualifications+
B.Sc. in Geological Sciences (Jadavpur University)
M.Sc. in Applied Geology (Jadavpur University)
Ph.D. (ongoing)
Biography+
During my doctoral research program I joined West Bengal Education Service as an Assistant Professor and posted to Durgapur Government College. I joined Presidency University in 2017 after almost two years of service in WBES. I was awarded L. Austin Weeks Undergraduate Grant from American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) in 2010. I received best poster presentation award in XXIV Indian Colloquium on Micropalaeontology and Stratigraphy at Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology in 2013 and best scientific contribution in the Journal of the Palaeontological Society of India for the year 2013 for our collaborative research publication.
Research / Administrative Experience+
My research area focuses on deep water benthic foraminifera from sediment core samples. I am also working on shallow water bentic foraminiferal species including both living and fossils.
Teaching / Other Experience+
I teach Micropalaeontology and Paleobotany in under-graduate and post-graduate courses which include theory and practical classes. I also teach Petroleum Geology to post-graduate students and occasionally Structural Geology practical to under-graduate students.
