About-
My specialization is in Bengal and Bengali Literature of Nineteenth Century. My research work was to the extent of realising social, political and literary worlds of Ninetenth Century Bengal. I have also undertaken extensive research on the literary works of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay and his views pertaining on the topics of Hindu and Muslim. Apart from that my research work involves learning more about the ninetinth century socio-political enviornment in Bengal but from the perspective of the Bengali literature of the era.

Biography+
I started teaching as a full time Lecturer in the Bankim Sardar College, 24 Parganas (South), in the year of 1997 on the basis of reccomendation from West Bengal College Service Commission.. Henceforth I was gradually promoted to the post of "Reader" in the year 2006, and then Associate Professor, 2009.
In the midst, I secured the opportunity to teach students of both U.G. and P.G. programmes, at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Open University, in the years of 2005-2010. I was also an examiner of U.G. and P.G. students, at the same Institute.
After completion of 13 ( Thirteen) years of service in the same college, I encountered a massive Road Traffic accident in the year 2010. In that particular accident I lost my 13 years old elder son and became a wheel chair user because of Spinal Cord Injury. The same tragedy has caused me to be 90 % (ninety percent) permanently disabled there onwards, along with a number of life threatening ailments regularly ailing me,
Later I joined in the Asutosh College, Kolkata as a full time faculty member in the year 2014 and started teaching Post Graduate courses as well as Under Graduate ones,
I joined in the Presidency University in the year 2015. In the year of 2024, I will be completing 27 years of full time teaching, in Public Universities and Colleges.
Research / Administrative Experience+
I was awarded M.Phil degree in the year 1997 by the Jadavpur University. From that particular year I was working as full time Lecturer but I continued my research work. I was awarded the Ph.d degree in the year 2005 by the Jadavpur University, Kolkata. The topic of my Ph.d thesis is concerned with understanding inter-religious relationships in the Hindu-Muslim context of 19th Century Bengal, from the perspective of Bankim's literature.
I have also special interest in essays, short stories, novels of modern Bengali literature.
I have worked in the field of women studies, literary works of women writers and literature about marginal people.
My Other Adminstrative Experiences in a nutshell :
- Examiner, Reviewer, and Scrutineer of Calcutta University, for various U.G. Honours' papers, in the years 1998-2014.
- Paper Setter of Bengali Honours' question papers of Calcutta University, involved with question papers of multiple courses, in the years 1998-2014
Teaching / Other Experience+
I generally teach history of Bengali literature, medieval Bengali literature , literature of 19th Century Bengal and modern Bengali Literature also for UG and PG levels. For PG level I teach medieval Bengali literature, modern Bengali novels and short stories and literary theory. I specialise in teaching Modern Bengali Fiction and the literature of 19th Century also.

Post Graduate Supervision+
I am interested in supervising postgraduate students in Modern Bengali Literature, in the field of enlightenment of 19th Century, history of Bengali literature etc. I teach Special Papers on Modern Fiction, Short Story and Modern Bengali Poetry.
