About-
I love Literature and Philosophy. I have special interest in Shri Aurobindo’s Philosophy and Gandhian Thoughts. My area of research is Indian Romanticism, Partition Literature, North-Eastern Literature, Comparative Literature and Gandhian Studies. My PhD research was on universality of romanticism in Hindi poets. I further developed my interest in study of revolutionary romanticism in Derozio (English), Nirala (Hindi), Najrul (Bengali) and Subramanian Bharati (Tamil). My post doctoral research is based on identity crises and formation of new cultural identity in partition literature, which includes novels of Hindi, Bengali and Bangladeshi novelists. I did research on Assamese poet Nilim Kumar, Kokborak (Tripura) poet Chandrakant Murasingh, Contemporary Manipuri poetry and contemporary Assamese Women writings. I also did research on impact of movements and thoughts of Mahatma Gandhi on Hindi Literature, Bengali Literature and Indian Literature. At present my focus is on study of myth of new born country in novels of Vishma Sahani (Hindi), Atin Bandyopadhya (Bengali) and Salina Hussain(Bangladeshi).

Biography+
I usually write in Hindi. My first article was published in Navabharat Times (Hindi version of Times of India) in 1987. Since then I started to write regularly in the literary columns of Navabharat Times. Later on I started to write for Janasatta (Hindi Version of Indian Express). My many cover stories were published in Janasatta. I joined West Bengal Education Service in August,1991 as a Lecturer in Hindi. My first posting was at Lady Brabourne College of Kolkata, where I served sixteen years at Hindi Department. I was transferred to Presidency College in June 2007 as a Reader and Head of the P.G. Hindi Department. I joined Presidency University as a Professor in Hindi in July 2012 and became HOD. I became Dean of Humanities & Social Sciences, Presidency University in November 2016. I am also discharging my duties as Head of the Hindi Department.
Research / Administrative Experience+
I worked as a Junior Research Fellow and Senior Research Fellow ( UGC NET) at Hindi Bhawan of Visva Bharati since 1987 to 1991. I did my Ph.D from Visva Bharati on ‘Universality of Modern Hindi Romantic Poetry’ .I completed UGC Minor Research Project on ‘Comparative Study of Poetry of Nirala and Nazrul Islam’ and UGC Major Research Project on ‘Tragedy of Partition of India and Formation of New Cultural Identity in Hindi, Bangla and Bangladeshi Novels (1947-2010). I completed GSDS research projects on ‘Mahatma Gandhi and Bengali Literature’, ‘Mahatma Gandhi & Najrul Islam’s Dhoomketu’, ‘Indian Renaissance & Henry Louis Vivian Derozio’, and ‘History of North-Eastern Literature’. At present am doing research on ‘Shakti Tatva in the poetry of Subramanium Bharati (Tamil), Nirala (Hindi) and Najrul (Bengali) under FRPDF scheme of Presidency University.
I worked as Secretary of Paschim Banga Hindi Academy, Ministry of Higher Education, Govt. of West Bengal from October, 1991 to June1997. It was an additional charge apart from my normal duties at Lady Brabourne College, Kolkata .I was again appointed Secretary cum D.D.O. of Paschim Banga Hindi Academy under the Ministry of Information & Culture Affairs, Govt. of West Bengal in August 2007 and served the Academy till September 2011. It was also additional charge beside my normal duties at Presidency College. I discharged my duties as Head of the department at Lady Brabourne College from Aug.1991 to May 2007, at Presidency College from June 2007 to Sept.2010 and at Presidency University from Oct 2010 till date.
I set up ‘Gandhi Center for North-Eastern Languages’ with collaboration of Gandhi Smriti Evam Darshan Samiti, New Delhi.at Presidency College in 2008. The Center is now a part of Presidency University. I am discharging my duties as a Co-ordinator of the Gandhi Center since 2008.
Teaching / Other Experience+
I teach Indian & Western Poetics, Modern Hindi Poetry and Comparative Literature at under graduate and post graduate level.
Post Graduate Supervision+
I am interested in supervising postgraduate students in topics of Modern Hindi Poetry, Hindi Fiction, Comparative Literature, Tribal Literature and Gandhian Literature. Dalpat Singh Rajpurohit, Assistant Professor in Hindi, Columbia University, USA is doing Ph D under my supervision on ‘ Bhakti Aur Riti Kavya Dharon Ka Samvad Aur Daupanthi Sunderdas ki Kavitayen’.
